The University of Alabama System is receiving applications for the position of Legal Secretary.   This position will be based in Birmingham on the campus of The University of Alabama at Birmingham.


Requirements include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • 5+ years of Legal Secretary experience;
  • Experience with law firm or legal department case and/or document management programs;
  • Strong technical skills with a demonstrated proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Excellent organizational, planning and communication skills;
  • A superior record of dependability and job attendance; and
  • Ability to maintain strict standards of confidentiality.


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the drafting and preparation of legal documents and correspondence;
  • Assisting with document production and management;
  • Responding to subpoena and open records requests; and
  • Providing administrative support to various attorneys as needed.
