The Department of History at the University of Alabama invites applications for a full-time renewable contract Instructor position. The appointment will begin with a one-year contract followed by the possibility of renewal. The expected start date for this position is August 15, 2026.
SW - Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management - Associate Professor/Full Professor – Tenured - 527557
The University of Alabama School of Social Work seeks an innovative leader who can connect a large programmatic vision to a detail-level focus that supports and enhances the student experience to serve as Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. This position is a 12-month faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor (tenured) or Professor (tenured) to begin July 1, 2026, with opportunity to start January 1, 2026. High priority experience areas include behavioral health, asset or strengths-based community approaches, and poverty and health disparities, but candidates with scholarship expertise in other areas are also encouraged to apply. The committee will strongly consider all areas that complement current faculty research and/or needs of the State of Alabama. The position requires a Ph.D. in Social Work or a closely related discipline, with at least three years of leadership experience. An MSW, with minimum of two years post-MSW practice experience, is preferred. The expected start date is by July 1, 2026, with opportunity to begin January 1, 2026. This is not a remote position.
SW - Instructor (Renewable Contract) - 527562
The University of Alabama School of Social Work invites applications for one (1) faculty appointment at the rank of Instructor (Renewable Contract Faculty) to begin August 16, 2026, with opportunity to start Summer 2026. All SSW Instructors are expected to demonstrate a high level of performance in the classroom, to contribute to instructional effectiveness in assigned courses, and to engage in service/academic citizenship. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track position. Successful candidates must have teaching experience, an MSW degree from an accredited institution, and at least three years of post-MSW social work experience. Areas of social work practice expertise are open. This is not a remote position.
SW - Endowed Academic Chair for Social Work and Health - Full Professor – Tenure/Tenure Track - 527571
The School of Social Work at The University of Alabama invites nominations and applications for the Endowed Academic Chair for Social Work and Health. Applicants should be eligible for appointment at the rank of full professor with tenure. The position is a nine-month, full time, academic appointment. We seek a colleague with a doctorate in social work or a related discipline who has: an exceptionally strong record of scholarship in the field of health, with a particular focus on promoting health equity and supporting vulnerable groups, ideally across the lifespan; evidence of interdisciplinary or interprofessional collaboration; a vibrant history of ongoing mentorship with colleagues and students; meaningful work in social determinants of health and community-based approaches; and an ongoing chronicled narrative of externally funded research. Review of applications begins December 1, 2025, and will continue until the position is filled. This is not a remote position.
