Job Summary: The Communications Specialist I writes and edits communications for a department, college, and/or division under general supervision. Develops and implements plans, activities, and tactics to support the goals of assigned areas. Coordinates the production of materials and resources through a variety of platforms, including digital and physical mediums.
Additional Department Summary: Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders in developing communication pieces that resonate with constituents. Collaborates with other Managers, Directors, Career Advisors, and students inside and outside the department in order to provide a comprehensive communication plan. Provides creative guidance and develops materials for the Career Center. Evaluates the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and adjust accordingly. Completes required training that is related to laws and regulations, that creates a more hospitable and respectful workplace; and safer work environment.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and some journalism, public relations, marketing, or communications experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to use relevant design tools to create marketing materials. Ability to receive constructive feedback. Strong familiarity with social media platforms and the ability to effectively leverage social media as a marketing tool. Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office software, and Apple products, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Demonstrated commitment to supporting all students.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a higher education setting. Photography experience. Videography and video editing experience.
