Job Summary: The Research Specialist PT works with departmental staff to design and conduct research projects on a part-time basis.


Additional Department Summary: The Mechanical Engineering Department at The University of Alabama is seeking candidates for a position for a Research Specialist PT. This position is funded by Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

Leads research in functional materials, biomaterials, and compliant mechanisms, focusing on applications within healthcare and microsystem sectors.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher.


Skills and Knowledge: Strong lab experience in biological materials. Skills in cell characterization and culture media development. Strong written and verbal communication of research results skills.


Preferred Qualifications: Experience with laboratory techniques and equipment to grow and characterize mammalian cell lines. Background in instrumentation and biological data analysis software.
