Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; occasional nights and weekends.
Job Summary: The First Generation Program Manager develops and manages programs supporting first-generation students including marketing programs and recruiting participants, creating curriculum, executing logistics, and assessing outcomes. Manages provided program budgets. Develops and maintains campus and community partnerships. Supervises First Generation Program Coordinators. Supervises and develops student leaders.
Additional Department Summary: Plans, develops, executes, and assesses several student-oriented programs including First-Gen Ambassadors, First-Gen Faculty/Staff Mentoring, Industry Trips, and First-Generation College Celebration Week, and additional programs for first-generation students. Supports the commitment to first-generation student success with a focus on serving students through large-scale programs and targeted retention initiatives including communication efforts for case management of student participants. Develops partnerships with campus departments and community organizations to provide resources to students and enhance student success program offerings for the retention and graduation of first-generation students. Manages provided program budgets and provides supervision for professional staff and undergraduate employees.
Completes required training related to UA policies and procedures, laws, and regulations that create a more hospitable and respectful workplace and safe work environment. Has accountability for financial reporting and responsibility for following and enforcing internal processes and controls as outlined in UA policies and procedures.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of student retention or engagement experience; OR master's degree and two (2) years of student retention or engagement experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Program development and assessment skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks/programs. Ability to form strong relationships with both students and other professional staff members.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or Counseling. Supervisory experience. Experience with program development. Experience with first-generation students programs or experience working with underserved students in higher education.
