Job Summary: The Assistant Manager of IT Desktop Operations assists the manager in providing direction to the desktop support department. The technician in this role handles a defined support territory of their own. Supervises other desktop technicians to include managing the day-to-day activities, providing technical support, preparing timesheets, and conducting yearly evaluations. Provides detailed technical assistance to Desktop Support Technicians and serves as the first escalation step for any work that needing higher level review. Maintains relationships with customers. Makes sound and timely decisions, as appropriate, and using good judgment to determine situations should be escalated. Leads projects that require coordination with other departments or vendors.


Additional Department Summary: Assists the manager in providing direction to the desktop support department. Handles a defined support territory. Provides detailed technical assistance to team members under their supervision and is the first escalation step for any work that needs to be escalated to higher level technicians. Maintains relationships with customers. Autonomously makes sound and timely decisions, using good judgment to determine which decisions should be escalated. Leads projects that require coordination with other departments or vendors. Anticipates problems and proactively develops appropriate solutions.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher and one (1) years of IT technical support experience; OR associates and three (3) years of IT technical support experience; OR High school diploma or GED and five (5) years of IT technical support experience.


Skills and Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of computer support principles.


Preferred Qualifications: Apple, Dell and Microsoft training and certifications.
