Pay Grade/Pay Range:  Minimum: $18.32 - Midpoint: $21.97 (Hourly N4)

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm


Job Summary: The Tree Trimmer performs a variety of skilled tasks involved in the care, maintenance and removal of ornamental and large shade trees using specialized vehicles and equipment. Operates hand and power tools in pruning and tree maintenance. Installs cables and braces in trees to assure that trees or limbs will fall in designated areas. Climbs trees using ropes, hooks or cables. Operates a bucket truck. Works closely with Horticulturists to identify and plan work activities. Must drive and safely operate a hydraulic lift bucket truck. May act as a lead worker.


Additional Department Summary: Supervises a crew of 1-6 employees as needed. Provides necessary training and may act as lead worker. Works on-call, early hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.


Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of arborist or tree trimmer experience. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have a valid Class B CDL or ability to obtain within six (6) months.

Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.

Ability to work overtime. Ability to work long days on your feet, including standing, walking, lifting, and carrying. Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
